I always plan ahead whether in the car or bike, in this case the bike. Before I hit the ped. Crossing, I see up ahead a car coming up to the pinch point on the other side, I hear a car behind me coming up fast, I am doing between 16 -- 20 mph. I indicate just hitting the ped crossing; I do an exaggerated shoulder look a few times holding the shoulder look so the driver knows I have taken primary position. This clustermonkey hits his horn trying to force me to get out-of-the way, he squeezes past, bastard, there is no way cyclist & car can fit in that pinch point.
